The Kursk offensive sputtered and failed in the north within days of its start. With the Germans on the defensive, the Soviet counteroffensive began to cut off the Orel salient just northwest of Kursk. The 12th Guards Heavy Tank Regiment moved out on July 11th, supporting the 9th Guards Rifle Corps of the 61st Army. Despite poor weather conditions, the Soviet artillery pounded the German positions and breached their lines. The regiment followed close on the heels of the artillery fire to secure the breach.
Objectives: Your regiment is tasked with subduing any enemy still surviving north-northeast of the river, and taking the objective. Your company has been deployed in a flanking position, east of the objective. While the other half of the regiment moves south through the breached defensive positions, your company will move west, striking the Fascists in enfilade. Your platoon forms the left flank of the company battleline, and will act as flank support for the rest of the company. If the tactical situation becomes critical, you may leave your supporting role and attempt to move to the objective. Three sections of the new SU-152 Mechanized Guns will support your attack.
